The Old way, the Marker Window. The FrameMaker marker window is adequate for simple marker interaction. But as indexes (and marker uses) demand more sophistication, this interface becomes slow and impractical.
The marker window approach can be costly in time and lost opportunities. The best possible index may never be created because it's too difficult using the marker window. And, to compound the problem, updates to the main body of a document may never get properly reflected into your markers.

Wishes fulfilled with IXgen . You can now do these and more. IXgen is a completely new interface to the FrameMaker marker system. This new interface consists of a number of tools to make marker manipulation direct, simple, and fast . (Note that IXgen is a new interface only -- no internal structures are altered. FrameMaker documents processed with IXgen can be opened, edited, and processed by regular FrameMaker or other tools, such as HTML converters, at any time.)

How Fast is Fast? Because of IXgen's facilities and speed, you can expect to do a "start to finish" index in 1/10 to 1/50 of the time needed using the marker window. System Requirements . IXgen, of the appropriate version, is an API client running under FrameMaker 4, 5.0/5.1, 5.5/6.0, 7x, or 8x. IXgen for UNIX is available for Solaris or SunOS, running FrameMaker 4, 5.0/5.1, or 5.5/6.0. (IXgen 7 is not available for any UNIX platform.) IXgen for PCs is available under all 32-bit Windows operating systems. IXgen support for Windows 3.1x (FrameMaker 5.0/5.1) is no longer available, but we will continue to honor license requests for IXgen owners still running this combination.

Warranty. FSA is one of the few software vendors that offers a performance warranty -- a five year performance warranty. If our software does not perform the functions noted in our sales information or the manual, we will fix the problem and we will do so in a timely manner.
Licensing. IXgen for UNIX offers floating licenses. PCs require fixed licenses, one for each PC you want to equip with IXgen. Discounts are given for quantity purchases of IXgen.
